Juvenile Arrested On Gun Charge

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – Press Release from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office below.

On 02/01/2018 The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department investigated and arrested a juvenile (no name released) for Possession of a Weapon by a Minor.

This investigation was a result of complaints of this juvenile making some disturbing comments and exhibiting some disturbing behavior.

Some social media post made mention of a weapon that the juvenile was in possession of and video posted confirmed this.

Investigation did indeed reveal a firearm and raised concerns of law enforcement and residents in the Caledonia area.

At this time Investigators have no direct knowledge that the juvenile had made any direct threats that would be criminal in nature.

Investigators are still working the case and talking with witnesses and looking at social media computer post and electronic devices.

The Lowndes County School System (Caledonia) assisted the Sheriff’s office with this investigation and the juvenile in question was detained while in school.

However no firearm was found at the school and the firearm in question was actually located at the juvenile’s residence.

Lowndes County Youth Court is now handling this case.
