Video: High School Senior Orchestrates Epic ‘Promposal’
OXFORD, MISS. (WCBI) – A high school prom is a memorable time for teenagers and there are many creative and unique ways to ask someone to the big event.
In fact, elaborate plans that increase someone’s chances of getting a date to the prom are known as “Promposals.”
For Logan Bay, there was never any question about who he would ask to be his prom date. He and his girlfriend, Cylie Robertson, have been dating for about a year and he wanted to find a special way to ask her to the big event.
“I went on Youtube and started searching, best promposal ideas, and so I was scrolling and I saw something cool and unique and it was where somebody was driving along the road with his girlfriend in the seat and they got stopped by the police,” Logan said.
Logan and Cylie attend Lafayette County High School, which also happens to have a contest for best Promposal. So Logan got to work, enlisting the help of Oxford Police Officer Brandon Jenkins, who is the husband of Cylie’s softball coach. Logan and Officer Jenkins came up with a game plan for the realistic looking traffic stop, which was all caught on video.
“I told Officer Jenkins to meet me at Double Quik Gas Station, I pulled in, he saw my car, got behind me, we were driving behind road, I pulled into a side street. You swerved, I swerved because I lost track of him because a car split us,” he said.
The officer flashed his blue lights, checked Logan’s ID, and told him there was a warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket, as Cylie anxiously waited.
Officer Jenkins finally coaxed Cylie to say a quick goodbye to her boyfriend, still sitting in the patrol car. As she approached Logan, he held a sign, reading, “Iam locked up, so I can lock you down for Prom?”
Once she got over the shock, Cylie was especially impressed with the acting ability of her boyfriend and Officer Jenkins.
“It was believable, and he didn’t smile, he didn’t give it away, neither one did, I was like, this is serious, I have to start thinking about, what am I going to do,” Cylie said.
Logan and Cylie’s teachers will pick the best “Promposal” Winners get tickets to the prom, this April.
Both Logan and Cylie plan to pursue careers in law enforcement after high school.
