Over 20 Animal Cruelty Charges Stack Up Against Yalobusha County Woman
YALOBUSHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The discovery of a wide variety of abandoned animals triggers over 20 animal cruelty charges for one Yalobusha County woman.
Rebecca Wilson was officially charged yesterday morning, January 24, with 19 counts of Animals without Food or Water and 6 counts of Simple Cruelty of a Pet.
According to Sheriff Lance Humphreys, Wilson’s husband, passed away on Christmas Eve.
Shortly after, the suspect allegedly left the animals and instructed family members to stay away from the property.
It’s reported that six dogs and numerous goats, pigs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, a donkey, and some other animals were abandoned.
Several animals were already dead with many near death when deputies arrived.
Volunteers with the Second Chance Animal Alliance helped rescued most of the animals on January 14th.
