Tupelo Film Festival To Screen More Than 70 Movies
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – An annual event this weekend in Tupelo gives independent filmmakers a chance to get their work screened by the public.
The 15th annual “Tupelo Film Festival” kicked off Thursday evening with some family friendly features. Throughout the weekend, more than movies will be shown at the Malco.
There are many categories, such as documentaries, short features and more than 35 high school filmmakers.
Organizers say there is something for independent filmmakers and fans at the festival.
“They get a different perspective on film, they get to see a different story than the Hollywood story, they get to see it from the person who’s just like them, who made a story about their community, just like theirs, it’s more fascinating,” said Carolyn Parson, film festival director.
In all, more than 70 films will be screened through Saturday at the film fest. It wraps up Saturday evening with an awards ceremony. For more information go to tupelofilmfestival.net
