Arrest Made In Motel 6 Murder Case

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – New developments in a Columbus homicide.

A man identified as a person of interest in the case is arrested and charged with Murder.

Johnathan Lee Majors II, of Columbus, was taken into custody today, January 9.

He was found inside and abandon house that investigators believe he was sleeping inside the past several days.

CPD, Lowndes County deputies, Narcotics Task Force Agents and U.S. Marshals made the arrest.

Majors is being held in the Lowndes County jail.

Bond has not been set.

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of December 22nd outside of Motel 6 on Highway 45.

27 year-old Michael Garth of Starkville was found by officers with a gunshot wound.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Garth died at the scene.
