Elderly man dies in Pontotoc County fire, investigation continues

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An elderly man is dead after a fire breaks out at his rural home in Pontotoc County.

It was around midnight, when 911 dispatched firefighters to a house fire at Piney Grove Road, near Waldo Road in the Randolph Community.

Firefighters say the home was fully involved when they arrived. They were able to extinguish the blaze, but the resident, an elderly, wheelchair bound man, died in the fire.

His identity hasn’t been released yet and investigators are looking into the cause of that blaze.
