Thunderbirds cancel Columbus appearance, airshow still on schedule
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Wings Over Columbus will fly high come mid-April, but with a few less wings in the sky.
Following the fatal crash of a Thunderbird’s pilot last week, the famous flight crew has canceled their appearance in Columbus.
The U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the F-22 Raptor and the C-17 Globemaster III Demonstration Teams, as well as, 15 other ariel performances are set to fly.
“Right now we have three priorities. First, we’re taking care of Cajun’s family. The Air Force and the Thunderbirds are making sure they have all the assistance they need in this difficult time,” Lt. Col. Kevin Walsh continued. “When the time is right, we’ll get back to executing our mission: to recruit, retain and inspire.”
The Wings Over Columbus Air and Space Show is set for April 21 and 22 at the Columbus Air Force Base.
