Local Legislator Home After Health Scare

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –

A local lawmaker is back at home after a health scare.

District 37 State Representative Gary Chism reportedly suffered what’s being described as a mild stroke Saturday.

Chism had been feeling bad and family members talked him into going to the hospital when they recognized stroke-like symptoms.

He was released from the hospital Sunday.

Chism has represented parts of Lowndes, Clay, and Oktibbeha counties in the State House of Representatives since 2000.

He also serves as chairman of the House Insurance Committee.
