Non Profit Gets Bullet Proof Vests For More Law Enforcement Officers
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Law enforcement officers throughout our area were fitted for bullet proof vests, thanks to an organization made up of wives of policemen.
Officers from various agencies were fitted for the body armor at the Lee County Justice Center. The vests are purchased by “Wives of Warriors.”
That group holds the “Blessed are the Peacemakers” 5k each September in Tupelo. Proceeds from that 5k purchase the vests for law officers.
“Just to know that your officer is as protected as they can be while they are out there protecting the community, it means the world to know that everything that can be done is being done to keep them safe and to bring them home to us,” said Kim Rushing, founder of “Wives of Warriors.”
“I really appreciate it, just to know other women out there, not only support their husbands, but also up and coming female officers, they are helping me a great bit,” said Columbus Police Officer Latessa Fluker.
This year’s Blessed are the Peacemakers 5k is set for September 29th. So far, 89 vests have been purchased because of the 5k.
