UPDATE: Columbus Police Officer Suspended

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus police officer is suspended for 14 working days.

Sources tell WCBI that officer is Toni Howard.

The suspension stems from an incident at Baptist Golden Triangle where she pointed a taser at a man in handcuffs.

A city spokesperson would not confirm the suspended officer’s name or the policy the officer violated.

Councilmen heard about two unrelated disciplinary incidents involving the officer.

City leaders agreed to let the suspension take effect after the holidays.
