Tupelo’s ECEC Students Canned Food Drive
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at a Tupelo school are learning about the spirit of Thanksgiving at a young age.
All pre kindergarten students at the Early Childhood Education Center are taking part in a canned food drive.
Each nine weeks, students participate in a community service project. Parents were asked to bring a canned food item as admission to a recent program, and now students are bringing canned food to add to the collection.
“We just felt like these service learning projects would be a great way to foster a connection to different needs we have in our community and at this age we can instill these values in children that they need to give back to our community and this is just a small way we can show our appreciation to the town that we live in,” said ECEC Principal Haley Stewart.
The food will be donated to a local food pantry or feeding program at the end of this nine weeks.
