Columbus Council Meeting Ends with 1 Employee Terminated – 2 Suspended
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Fire and Rescue is down one team member, and 2 CPD Officers are facing suspension after Tuesday’s Columbus City Council meeting.
Councilmen took up a number of personnel matters during executive session.
In a 5 to 1 decision, they voted to terminate a Columbus Fire and Rescue employee for “conduct unbecoming” a member of the Department.
Fire Officials would not identify the employee, saying it was a personnel issue.
The Council also upheld the Police Chief’s recommendation to suspend one officer for 30 calendar days.
Another officer was suspended 8 working days for failure to follow proper body camera procedures.
