East Columbus Shooting Investigation Continues

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police have released new details about an East Columbus shooting investigation.

CPD were called to 149 Poplar Street about 8:40 last night, October 31.

A 17 year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Witnesses told officers that the teen talked about “Russian Roulette” and put one bullet in a gun. The second time he pulled the trigger the gun fired.

Investigators say forensic evidence supports the information witnesses gave to officers.

About seven hours after the shooting incident, officers were called to a house next door about shots being fired at a home.

Columbus police believe this was a retaliation shooting stemming from the incident next door.

At last notice, the victim was still in critical condition.
