Oktibbeha Starkville School District Implements Pre-K Program

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- With the help of community support and federal grant money, the Oktibbeha Starkville School District is adding a Pre-K program.

Currently sixty spots are available, 40 at Sudduth Elementary School and 20 at West Oktibbhea County Elementary School.

Teachers and administrators hope these programs will grow with time and give kids more of a reason to stay in school.

“I expect it to be successful. I think the parents are going to be very happy about the standards that they’re learning and the kindergarten readiness that they have. We recognize that dropout prevention starts at an early age. One way that we can do that is to get children in earlier and start creating lifelong learners,” said Gabrielle Mills, principal at West Oktibbeha Count Elementary School.
