House kills bill that would have let schools arm teachers
JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi House has killed a bill aiming to arm school teachers and staff.
House Bill 1083 missed the vote boat for this year’s session after members of the House failed to agree on senators’ previous changes.
The bill was originally introduced after the mass-shooting in Parkland, Florida.
House Judiciary B Committee Chairman Andy Gipson claims he let the bill die due to a Senate change allowing schools and colleges to ban people from carrying guns into stadiums.
There had also been questions about the amount of training required to carry on campus that bogged the bill down.
