New Albany Police Chief Surprised With Trump Phone Call
NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – A police chief in our area gets a phone call that he will never forget.
New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson was at the Rotary Club meeting, making sure Senator Roger Wicker was safe during his visit to the city.
After the meeting at “Taylor’s Fish and Steak” Senator Wicker got a phone call from the White House. President Donald Trump was calling to talk to the soon to be senior senator from Mississippi.
But before hanging up with President Trump, Senator Wicker wanted to do something to recognize local law enforcement and Chief Robertson got the surprise of his life.
“Senator Wicker asked the President to speak to me and as a member of law enforcement, the President thanked me on behalf of all law enforcement across the United States and the military, and said he’s trying to get us the tools we need and make sure that we have everything to do the job we do,which means a lot and I will be honest with you I was not expecting to speak with the President of the United States today,” Chief Robertson said.
Chief Robertson says his conversation with President Trump lasted a couple of minutes but it is a phone call he will tell his kids and grandkids about.
