VIDEO: Job Fair Shows Promise in Choctaw County

ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – The Choctaw and Winston County Enterprise hosted it’s third annual job fair in Ackerman.

Fifteen local companies filled the community center for several hours.

Last year, one out of every three people from this fair were hired and Enterprise employees see an increase in this year’s turnout.

Local companies see the value in these job fairs.

“You know, we’re trying to keep local. You know, we want Choctaw County to grow and so this is a great way to promote Choctaw County,” said HR Rep. for Southeastern Timber, Tina Lee.

“We can expose anyone that’s looking for a job to all of the different types of jobs that we have available here, and so it’s been a value added program that our employers look forward to each year. They hire applicants that they meet here year-round, and so it’s great exposure for our industry and for those that are looking for a job,” said Director of the Enterprise, Lara Bowman.
