Tallahatchie River Fest Promises Fun, Food And Music
NEW ALBANY, MISS. (WCBI) – An annual festival featuring music, food and a host of activities is expected to draw thousands of people to New Albany.
The “Tallahatchie River Fest” takes place this weekend. A carnival is set up at the Park next to the river, there are games, rides and lots of food.
Also, on Saturday, Bankhead Street will be closed during the day as the main street turns into a gigantic outdoor market.
And there are concerts Friday and Saturday, with country music artists “Diamond Rio” closing it all out.
Everything is within walking distance.
“We do have a beautiful downtown and having the festival so close to downtown is just a lot of synergy there, it is walkable, you can walk up to the trail head, in the morning and listen to acoustic music there, walk down through the market, come through the carnival stick around for concerts that night,” said Sean Johnson, director of tourism for the City of New Albany.
Johnson says people should bring their lawn chairs for the free concerts. For more information on the festival, go to tallahatchieriverfest.com
