‘Crisis Team’ Looks To Handle Campus Emergencies
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Security personnel, administrators and representatives from campuses throughout the Tupelo Public School District are looking at how to respond during a crisis.
The TPSD’s “Crisis Team” meets each quarter, to review emergency practices and procedures for the district.
Team members review recent crisis situations at schools throughout the United States. The team talks about how to better refine and improve emergency response guidelines.
Administrators say it takes everyone working together to ensure things run smoothly during an emergency situation.
“We’re always trying to be proactive, cause as a school district our first priority is to maintain a safe and orderly environment, we can’t control what happens in society, but we can control how we respond to a crisis situation in the schools and our board and community expect us to maintain safe schools and have a rapid response in event of a crisis situation on our campuses,” said Dr. Gearl Loden, Superintendent of TPSD.
During the meeting, members reviewed response and actions at schools during the recent tornado warnings that impacted the area.
