HURRICANE MARIA: Maria is a Major hurricane this morning, having made landfall last night on the island of Dominica. Maria will continue to move WNW towards the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Significant and potentially catastrophic impacts are likely there. Beyond that, Maria is likely to continue northwest into the Caribbean. It’s still a bit too early to say whether or not Maria will have any direct impact on the continental US, but right now the model guidance is showing a fairly strong signal that Maria will swing away from the east coast.
