Video: Lowndes County Chase Ends In Downtown Columbus Arrest

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man is facing several charges after a pursuit through New Hope and downtown Columbus on Thursday afternoon.

The chase eventually ended at 715 11th Street North.

As of now, Jonathan Beeler is charged with felony fleeing and eluding and four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

He’s accused of attempting ram or run a police officer off the road.

Sheriff’s Department Captain Ryan Rickert says a deputy initially tried to stop Beeler for speeding on Highway 69.

The pursuit went down Yorkville Road, Highway 182, Alabama Street and Military Road… just to name a few.

Nothing illegal was found in Beeler’s car and why he ran is unclear.

He was arrested at his home.

No significant damage was reported to law enforcement vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Columbus police and state troopers assisted in the chase.
