Video: Photo Exhibit One Of Many Attractions In Downtown Tupelo For State’s Bicentennial Celebrations

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Visitors to downtown Tupelo will be able to see some unique photos in store windows, as part of that city’s bicentennial celebrations.

Jackson based “Blue Magnolia Films” is placing 20 poster size prints in windows of downtown businesses.

The photos tell about Tupelo history, famous residents such as Elvis Presley,  the North Mississippi Medical Center, and modern attractions and current leaders.

It’s all part of the Mississippi bicentennial celebrations which are set for Thursday evening and organizers say they even learned a lot about the city and its history.  The Tupelo project is part of a statewide initiative.

“We’re going around the state and looking at what we call bright spots, and we’re looking at revitalization, Mississippi in terms of our past and present and what we’re doing to move forward with our story,” said Chandler Griffin, of Blue Magnolia Films.

The photos in downtown Tupelo will be uncovered Thursday morning.   Then there is a host of activities planned for Thursday afternoon and evening as the city celebrates the state’s bicentennial.
