4-County Electric Crews Head to Florida

COLUMBUS, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE)- Crews from 4-County Electric Power Association left for Florida early this morning.

They will be assisting sister cooperative, Clay Electric, in restoring power to residents hit by Hurricane Irma.

The two seven-man volunteer crews and one support team member left Columbus at around 5 a.m.

Clay Electric is reporting about 58 percent of their area is without power as of this morning.

Initial reports from the area indicate the damage seems to be a large number of downed power lines.

In addition, 4-County sent several large pieces of equipment to assist in the recovery process, including four bucket trucks, two digger-derrick trucks and two service/pickup trucks.

“We are glad to be in a position to send this assistance to help restore power to members of Clay Electric,” said 4-County Manager of Operations Anthony Miller. “Our system and members have been the recipients of assistance from other electric cooperatives and we are always glad to be able to help others when they need assistance. That’s the cooperative way.”
