Two Town Officials Arrested For Embezzlement
ECRU, Miss. (WCBI)- In the small town of Ecru, City Clerk, Gretchin Moody, and former Chief of Police, Paul Martin Blaylock, were arrested today, September 12, on charges of embezzling nearly half a million dollars.
Law enforcement tells us over a four year period, Moody spent the money on these 77 high quality firearms to give to Blaylock as a gifts.
State Auditor, Stacey Pickering, is determined to see this money back in the town of Ecru’s hands.
“This is where, not just at the local level but the state level, we push to make sure all individuals of the public trust are bonded. That’s the first recourse. We’ll go against that and any insurance policies. That’s the quickest way that we can make the taxpayers. We’ll work with the local government to make sure they have our backing and our support of our attorneys, our CPA’s and, our legal staff to make that happen as fast as we can,” says Pickering.
A grand jury indicted both Moody and Blaylock.
