Councilwoman Uses 9/11 Anniversary To Spruce Up Local Park

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A Tupelo city council member used the anniversary of the 9 11 terror attacks to spruce up a park in her Ward.

Ward Four Councilwoman Nettie Davis recruited volunteers from the city and Food Corps to rake,  pull weeds and plant some trees and shrubs at the Green Street Grove, also known as “Mrs Nettie’s Park.”

Davis says doing a community service project on the anniversary of the terror attacks shows that Americans continue living in freedom, and caring about their neighborhoods and cities.

“We need to do something at all times to let people know we are concerned about our community and want to do everything we can to move forward and beautify it,” Davis said.

The cleanup also comes in time for the upcoming “Communities Forward Festival” set for September 23rd.
