‘Choice Bus’ Makes A Stop In Northeast Mississippi
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at Tupelo Middle School get a look at the consequences of making the right choices and how their decisions now can impact their lives.
The “Choice Bus” was at TMS for the second day. Seventh and eighth graders toured the interactive learning tool, which is a half prison cell and half classroom school bus.
It teaches the importance of staying in school and making the right decisions, while making wise choices with friends.
Students get to walk through the mock prison cell and they learn that 75% of people in jail did not finish high school.
“What we really try to accentuate is they need a plan, you know, you need to be thinking ahead, use the resources the school will provide you so you can get some education , real opportunities, education after high school,” said Chet Pennock, Choice Bus Presenter.
The “Choice Bus” is a project of the Mattie C Stewart Foundation. The tour is funded by State Farm Insurance.
