Video: Local Main Street Association In Running For National Title
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – One city is our region is the only one in the state in the running for a prestigious honor focusing on downtown revitalization and development.
The “Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association” is a semi finalist for the 2018 “Great American Main Street Award.”
That award looks at a number of factors, such as economic development, historical preservation and beautification efforts.
DTMSA members say the recognition shows that hard work is paying off.
“Citizens of Tupelo believe in this city and its great leadership and vision. If you look at downtown today and compare that to downtown twenty years ago, it’s amazing the things that are happening,” said Lucia Randle, president of DTMSA.
During its 27 year history, DTMSA has helped generate more than $165,000,000 in public-private investment and received more than 60 awards. The winner will be announced in March at the Great American Main Street Awards.
