Video: Ole Miss ‘Rebel Fund’ To Help Students From Hurricane Harvey Area

OXFORD, MISS. (WCBI) – Students at the University of Mississippi who have families impacted by Hurricane Harvey will have some relief thanks to a fund started earlier this year.

The “Rebel Relief Disaster Fund” is available to the more than 500 students with home addresses in the impacted counties in Texas.

The fund was established in March in response to calls to help others in times of disasters.

University officials say the easiest way to help is to make a tax deductible donation to the fund.

“We certainly hope this will alleviate some of the stress.  Our vice chancellor for student affairs has reached out to them today, offering up our counseling services and many support services, we don’t want finances to be a burden but we also don’t want them trying to rush back to Houston when there may not be a means to get there or anything to go to,” said Barbara Russo, Emergency Management Coordinator with Ole Miss.
