Suspect In Cop Impersonator, Sex Assault Case Won’t Be Released On Bond After Court Order
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- A Pontotoc County man who is accused of using flashing red and blue lights to pull females over during bogus traffic stops, and assaulting one this past weekend, has a bond hearing .
44 year old Louis Winston Scott had his bond set at $2 million during his initial appearance in Lee County Justice Court.
Scott is charged with one count of attempted kidnapping in Lee County. Early Saturday morning, Scott is accused of using the flashing lights in his black Kia sedan, and pulling a female driver over near Birmingham Ridge Road.
She drove off when she saw Scott approach her car with a knife. However, a short time later, Scott is accused of stopping a female driver on I-22, forcing her into his car, and sexually assaulting her in another location, before releasing her at her vehicle.
Although bond was set, a ruling from Circuit Court to deny bond for Scott will keep him behind bars.
“We wanted to make sure this individual was not out in the general public anytime soon, so with the no bond he can’t get out, with assurance he’s being held also by a hold by MDOC, and he’s also soon going to be facing multiple felony charges out of Union County I think the general public can breathe a lot easier tonight knowing where this guy’s at,” said Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson.
Scott served 14 years in prison for similar crimes he committed back in 2000. He was released several years ago, but was still on probation with the MDOC. He faces three sexual assault charges and a kidnapping charge in Union County.
