Warm Weather Continues.

Maximum Eclipse

Maximum Eclipse

TODAY: Latest model guidance has been coming in drier, and so rain chances have been nudged down slightly today through Monday. Still, a rogue shower is not totally out of the cards today. High temperatures in the low 90s, with heat index values from around 95° to around 100°. Rain chance at or below 10%.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Temperatures will be in the upper 80s for the kickoff of most games, dropping into the low 80s by the time most games are over. A few clouds, but no rain. Winds light out of the northwest.

WEEKEND: A slightly drier pattern continues through the weekend. A mix of sun and clouds each day, and around 20% shower and storm coverage each afternoon. Highs in the low 90s, with heat index values in the upper 90s and low 100s.

MONDAY’S ECLIPSE: As with most summer afternoons in the deep south, clouds and a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be building by 1:30 pm; the peak of the eclipse. Having said that, I’m confident at least a few spots will have a good view of the celestial event in the afternoon. Temperatures will be topping out later in the afternoon in the low 90s, right around the time the eclipse is over. Rain chance around 20%.
