Video: Bond Set At 2 Million Dollars For Man Accused Of Shooting His Wife To Death
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Bond is set at $2 million for a Tupelo man accused of shooting and killing his wife during a domestic dispute Saturday night.
Twenty four year old James Sharp is charged with first degree murder. Police say Sharp called 9 1 1 Saturday night around 11 30 , and said his wife, Carol, shot herself at their residence.
Police on the scene at Kirkwood Apartments found inconsistencies in Mister Sharp’s story, and he was taken into custody.
Carol Sharp died Sunday morning from a gunshot wound, and James Sharp was charged with murder.
Authorities are pleased at the high bond.
“We’re hoping it sends a strong message too, because of the particulars of the case and everything that’s involved, it’s not going to be tolerated for one thing and hopefully it will send a strong message for that,” said Detective Jim Littlejohn, with the Tupelo Police Department.
This makes the seventh homicide in Tupelo this year.
