VIDEO: Wireless Internet Becomes Available in Rural Mississippi
CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Wireless internet is now available for rural locations in parts of Choctaw County.
AT&T announced that Sherwood and Cumberland can now have fixed wireless internet.
It offers faster streaming and stronger signals for many households that struggled with internet service.
Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says this is extremely important for households with children and students.
He says the positive impact internet availability makes can be seen in a student’s success.
“This is about education. It’s economic development, it’s about making sure that our rural communities have the exact same treatment in services as does the urban areas of Mississippi,” says Presley
Presley says the next goal is to have fiber optics put in more locations for area businesses.
