Lee County Schools Hosts Convocation As Part Of Orientation For Teachers And Employees
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – The Lee County Schools Choir, led by ‘Gladys Gladstone’, was part of the entertainment during the annual districtwide convocation.
It took place at The Orchard church in Tupelo. Nearly 1,000 employees were on hand for the start of orientation.
Guest speaker Billy Riggs encouraged all district employees to look at their jobs as a calling and a way to influence the lives of young people.
“We hope by having the guest speaker we have today that first our teachers have a little bit of fun in this opening convocation but also he provides some words of motivation and words of encouragement, just to make them feel good, little better about about coming back to school and a little bit better about the job they have to do,” said Supt. Jimmy Weeks.
On Wednesday, teachers are taking part in professional development courses, and getting their rooms ready. Students return to Lee County schools on Thursday.
