Body Found in Booneville Wooded Area

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Booneville Police are investigating a possible homicide.

Investigators believe it happened overnight. According to the police department, officers discovered a body in a wooded area inside the city limits, after following a lead.

Booneville Police Chief, Michael Ramey tells WCBI, that his office has a person of interest in custody.

The body has been sent to the state Crime Lab in Pearl for positive identification.

Ramey says the investigation is ongoing. We’ll have more information as this story develops.
