Video: Students Get Hands On Experience At Theatre Camp
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – About 75 first through eighth graders are spending part of their summer vacation learning about acting and drama.
It’s part of the annual Theatre Camp, hosted by the Tupelo Community Theatre. The camp is held at the Lyric Theatre and students learn about art, music and acting.
The students will perform an original production Friday called “Born to Be Wild.” The camp is popular with the young thespians.
“I hope when they leave this week they can take away some things they learned in art and music and being on stage, but this sense of self and ability to be confident in who they are,” said Director Danielle Frerer.
“I like it and all my friends come here at the same time as me so we get to be together again,” said camper Annelise Fagan.
Counselors and teachers help with the Theatre Camp. The performances are free and take place at 11:30 and 4:30 July 14 at the historic Lyric Theatre in downtown Tupelo.
