Video: Fireworks Possible Culprit For Shutting Down Railroad Track

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Fireworks are being blamed for shutting down a railroad track in Columbus.

Firefighters were called to the trestle that goes over the Tenn-Tom Waterway and connects what is known as the Island to Columbus.

Several cross ties were smoldering and a train had to be stopped while crews worked to make sure everything was extinguished.

Repairs will have to be made.

Firemen tell WCBI they believe someone was shooting fireworks last night and that’s what sparked the smoke.

An investigation is underway.
