Video: Regional Job Fair Attracts Thousands For Chance To Meet Employers Face To Face

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – It was an opportunity for those looking for work, or looking to change careers to make that important first impression face to face.

The Community Development Foundation held a regional job fair at the Tupelo Furniture Market.

Representatives from sixty companies were on hand, to meet prospective employees, give out applications and even conduct on the spot interviews.

Organizers say there are a lot of companies looking to hire, and applicants appreciate the diverse mix of potential employers.

“Manufacturing base here is really good, at this point in time, as you ride around town you see a lot of commercial development going on with retail, a lot of new restaurants coming in, they are all looking for new folks,” said Greg Giachelli, of CDF.

“It’s lovely, the people are so nice and you can kind of open your horizons, broaden your horizons, instead of doing an internet search , it’s so nice to meet new people, talk to them face to face and find out what they do and what their passions are and maybe find a new one of your own,” said Rebekah Trotter, who is looking for a career in sales.

Some employers included Toyota,  the CREATE Foundation, along with the Tupelo Fire Department and the police department.
