VIDEO: Rumors Of Georgia Escapees In Noxubee County Are Just That, Rumors

NOXUBEE CO., Miss. (WCBI) – Rumors of two Georgia homicide suspects in Noxubee County prove to be false.

A large law enforcement presence could be seen on Highway 388 through Tuesday afternoon.

Noxubee deputies were called about two white men, dressed in orange, driving a dark-colored SUV this morning.

There were also a couple of crimes reported in the area that proved to be unrelated.

While the suspicious men were never found, Sheriff Terry Grassaree says it’s important for law enforcement to follow up on the calls and to make sure there are legitimate concerns.

“We take it very seriously, and if it’s false we’re gonna pursue that person. But if it’s something you see, we really want to know even if it doesn’t take us anywhere because that is legitimate. It could be something,” he explained.

Grassaree says you should call 911 if you see anything suspicious.

Deputies from Noxubee, Kemper, and Pickens Counties, along with state troopers and the Mississippi Department of Corrections, were involved in the search.
