VIDEO: Having A Blast At Space Camp
STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI) Mississippi State partners with Youth Environmental Science (Y.E.S.) Camp to welcome dozens of students from the Starkville Oktibbeha County School District to campus Friday.
During the camp, students got the chance get hands on experience making model planets, drop comets, and build rockets.
The Space Cowboys from the MSU Aerospace Engineering Department volunteered with the camp and assisted the students with all their projects.
Friday wrapped up the the week long event with the students hitting the launch pad and testing out their new creations.
“I see it everyday in what I do. It is critical with learning that you get hands on experience. It makes it that much more real it focuses the attention and especially when it’s down in an outdoor setting it makes it that much easier to learn,”said Y.E.S. Camp Primary Instructor Beverly McKinley.
Y.E.S. camp will host three more camps during the summer. They are an Out Door Survival Camp, Nature Art Camp and a Wild Life Exploration Camp.
