VIDEO: Community Comes Together For Anti-Bullying Fundraiser

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- Parents and their children gathered this evening to raise money and awareness!

Bullying was the topic of discussion at Skate Odyssey in Starkville this evening…

The community came together following the recent death of Mariah Issacs

In honor of Isaacs, Skate Odyssey hosted a family fun event, where 100% of the proceeds went to Mariah’s family.

Representatives from Community Counseling, Families First, and Sally Kate Winters Family Services had tables with information on the resources they provide.

Dr. Larnzy Carpenter was a speaker at the event- and the focus was speaking out against bullying.

Children signed banners promising to be kind and speak up when they see bullying taking place.

Isaac’s family was extremely touched by the communities generosity.

“Oh my God! This is so amazing. It’s over two three hundred people here to support Mariah and her voice is being heard,” says Laoneda Carpenter.

There was also a silent auction at the event, where all proceeds also went to the Isaacs’.
