VIDEO: Resident’s Reaction To Governor’s Resignation
ALABAMA (WCBI)- Alabama has a new governor. Lieutenant Governor Kay Ivey was just sworn in following impeachment hearings today for Governor, Robert Bentley.
He was just booked in the Montgomery County Jail for two charges regarding illegal campaign moves.
Bentley is also facing accusations of using state resources to hide an affair with a top aide.
“‘Lets go away, come away with me, I’m ready sweet thing, you handsome, wonderful, amazing, delicious, sweet man…'” reads resident Sean Mohabbad.
These are just a few of the intimate text messages Alabama Governor, Robert Bentley and his top aide shared.
Bentley denies ever having had a physical relationship with Mason- the texts seem to imply otherwise- and residents agree.
“The fact that she’s saying he’s in love with her and all that is… it’s not good,” says resident Brenessa Nook.
“The fact that there’s text messages and it’s very clear that he says, ‘You look beautiful and feel so soft.’ like I just don’t think that’s appropriate whatsoever,” says resident Laura Tyson.
These texts are being used as just some of the evidence included in a 100 plus page impeachment investigation file.
“This is just disrespectful to, not only to Alabama, but to everyone involved… ‘I always love you’ that’s ‘ok sweetheart, I love holding you.’ that’s not not cool,” says Karen Ziek.
Bentley has acknowledged making personal mistakes, but has denied doing anything that would merit removal from office.
“When you’re in public eye, you represent where you’re from, you represent Alabama and this is not the people of Alabama. Alabamians are so so sweet people and respectful and this is just not representing of Alabama at all,” says Ziek.
Bentley’s wife, Dianne Bentley, discovered the texts between Mason and her husband and she is the one who submitted them to the committee.
