STEEL HORSE PONY EXPRESS

In February, a World War Two Veteran passed away in upstate New York.

In March, his body was mysteriously found in a suitcase in Prairie County, Arkansas.

Today, his remains are being returned to his family by the Patriot Guard Riders.

Private Robert Brooks is the identity of the veteran found in Arkansas, and by the request of his family the Patriot Guard are bringing him home for a proper burial.

The trip is seven-hundred and thirty-three miles long, and it’s something they’re calling a Steel Horse Pony Express.

These riders of the Mississippi Patriot Guard made their switch in Fulton, giving the remains to the Alabama riders to go into the next state.

Before the ride began, Private Brooks’ body was cremated, and his remains placed on a motorcycle to be taken to his son.

This ride started in Little Rock, Arkansas and will end in Columbia, South Carolina, where Private Brooks’ son lives.

These rides are normal for the Patriot Guard, but this story received a larger response.

“The circumstances under which… Under how he was treated after he passed away made us a lot more involved or wanted to get involved. As you can probably see, we had over 140 motorcycles from Memphis down to here, and another group went on to Alabama,” said State Captain of the Mississippi Patriot Guard Riders, Don McKibben.

This ride is one of the many ways the riders show their respect and support for those who have fought for our country.

“It shows that the love from the other people for somebody that we don’t know. They just served and put their time in to protect and serve this country in whichever manner they so choose to have done that we just honor them and stand for them as they have stood for us,” said Patriot Guard member, Scott Colman.

The final service, where Private Brooks will be buried in Columbia, is scheduled for Tuesday, accompanied by a few hundred patriots.
