COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Middle School and high school students get a taste of the Glory that was Rome.

Latin may be a “dead” language, but it came alive Friday in chariot races, and gladiator fights on the campus of the Mississippi University for Women.

The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science hosted the annual Latin Convention to demonstrate the importance of the language today, and to give students a glimpse of the era when it was the language of the one of the world’s largest empires.
