VIDEO: MSU Watch Party Unites Fans
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)- While Mississippi State fans made their way to Dallas to see the Womens Basketball Championship, many were not able to.
To solve this, Humphrey Coliseum held a watch party for everyone to see their bulldogs.
Thousands of people came in to a lowered score board to watch this historic moment in program history.
For the loyal maroon and white fans who couldn’t make it to the NCAA Womens Finals, they came to Humphrey Coliseum to watch something that has never been done in MSU history- winning a national championship.
Golden Triangle citizens, both old and young made their way to support such a historic accomplishment.
“I’ve been a Mississippi State fan for years, and to see them go to the final four in 1996 and now to see the girls have a chance to win a national championship, it’ll make my year,” says an attendee.
In the past few years, there have been several occasions where the community has come together to support an M-S-U team, but this one is special.
This completes the ultimate trifecta for college sports programs. Since 2013, no NCAA program has sent their teams to a New Years Six Bowl, and College World Series, and a Final Four, until today, and it’s all thanks to the girls.
The farthest this program has ever gotten is the Sweet Sixteen, and for something like this to happen brings everyone together.
“It’s incredible, honestly, to see the way not just the seniors and the students so supportive to these girls. I can tell you for a fact there’s thousand more in Dallas right now that if were here this place would be packed all the way out and it’d be incredible,” says an attendee.
No matter how far away an M-S-U team will be, they’ll always have the support of thousands of fans making watch parties like this one.
