Video: Campus and Community Volunteers Prepare to Join Forces in Starkville

MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, Miss. (WCBI) –Campus and Community are coming together in Starkville Saturday for what they call the ” Big Event”..

Student volunteers will join local residents to tackle community service projects throughout Oktibbeha County.

Nearly one thousand people are expected to join in on nearly 70 different projects.

Friday afternoon on the MSU campus the Maroon Volunteer Center held a kick-off celebration to get everyone in the spirit, and to register volunteers, so they’ll be ready to hit the ground running Saturday morning..

“It’s a great way to get our campus involved in community service, and to get our community volunteers working along side our MSU students.” said Assistant Diresctor of Student Leadership Meggan Franks.

The Maroon Volunteer Center is hoping to set a new record for the Big Event by fielding 1,001 workers on Saturday.
