Video: MSMS Students Turn out to Support Teacher
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –Students and faculty from The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science hold a pep rally for a Final Four of a different sort.
History Teacher Chuck Yarborough is one of four finalists for Mississippi Teacher of the Year honors.
Friday, the school turned out to show their support.
Yarborough has been teaching American History at MSMS for 22 years, and has received recognition for his work on Tales from the Crypt and other programs. But he gives much of the credit to those he teaches and those who taught him.
” An educator is in it to educate the young people of our state, and to make a difference in the long run that way. I am particularly proud, because my late colleagues Carl Butler and Judy Morris really influenced my teaching career, and a lot of what I do in the classroom is modeled after lessons I learned from them.”
The State Teacher of the Year will be announced Friday April 7th in Jackson.
