Federal Court Won’t Revive Lawsuit Over Mississippi Flag
NEW ORLEANS, La. (WCBI-TV) – A fight to use the courts to remove the Confederate battle emblem from the Mississippi flag may be over.
A federal appeals court in New Orleans tossed out a lawsuit. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Friday that it would not revive a lawsuit rejected by a lower court.
This was an ongoing appeal from attorney Carlos Moore to change the state flag. He says he’s going to try to take the case to the Supreme Court.
He filed the suit in 2016. He, and others opposed to the flag, say it’s a reminder of slavery and segregation. Supporters say it represents history and heritage.
