Tupelo Woman Indicted For Allegedly Spraying Chemical In Patient’s Eyes
ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – A grand jury has indicted a Lee County woman for allegedly spraying a cleaning chemical into the eyes of a patient.
Attorney General Jim Hood says Tuesday that 42-year-old Bridgett Copeland of Tupelo is out on bond.
The felony abuse indictment says she did this on purpose in June when she was a nurse aide at a rehab facility in Fulton. A conviction could mean up to 20 years in prison and up to $20,000 in fines.
The indictment alleges that last June, Copeland intentionally sprayed Perineal Wash, a blue liquid chemical, into the eyes of a patient.
Investigators with the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit arrested Copeland Friday after an Itawamba County grand jury indicted her for one count of felony abuse of a vulnerable person.
She was booked into the Itawamba County jail and released on a $25,000 bond. Her arraignment date is set for July 27.
