Video: State Supreme Court Upholds Murder Conviction

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) -A Starkville man will remain in jail on a murder conviction and his conviction on three counts of aggravated assault.

The Mississippi Supreme Court upheld the jury’s decision.

Dennis Thompson was convicted in 2014 for shooting and killing Curtis Randle after a graduation party.

Thompson argued trial Judge Lee Coleman abused his discretion by allowing rebuttal evidence.

Thompson also said Coleman should have allowed his proposed jury instructions.

The state Supreme Court disagreed.

Thompson was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
