Update: Police Name Person Of Interest In Tuesday Columbus Store Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – Columbus police say Tuesday night they’ve identified a person of interest in the shooting at the OK Foods convenience store. They’re looking for 25-year-old Leronn Klayshay Gregory.

Columbus police are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting. They say Tuesday night that the two men who were injured are in stable condition.

A city spokesman says city leaders will be meeting Wednesday with the owners of OK Foods to discuss what steps they can take to keep the area safe.

Here’s what we know about the Tuesday afternoon shooting.

Two men were shot inside the store around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Avenue North and 18th Street North.

One of the men is 25 years old. First responders reported he was shot in his neck, leg and arm. He was flown to a Jackson hospital.

The other man is 32 years old. He also has multiple gunshot wounds.

A city spokesman says both men were not employees. Police haven’t arrested anyone. They did recover a handgun at the store.

The investigation is ongoing.

The OK Foods convenience store is a locally-owned small market and is not connected to the Fort Smith, Arkansas-based poultry products manufacturing company.
